i dont understand, is the target audience little kids? pedophiles? really old people? certain games that have kiddy cartoony characters, i cant stand them they look terrible -.- rose online, mabinogi etc etc, wow is an exception although somewhat cartoony atleast they arent kiddy.... WHO likes these kinds of figures? New f2p games are allmsot all kiddy; domo, ghost etc... they look like they were made for kids in preschool....wtf

I always wondered that myself. I later realized that most of these games where played by anime fans and are popular to play so the company's started to market on the cartoon versions of games.


I will be honest. I am currently playing "Holic Online" myself and enjoy it. I guess there really is not much to offer right now for the players so they resort to these games.

Well, most games these days are fantasy games so they should have a fantasy type picture?

Well, I think it all goes back to Flyff. Ever since Flyff was a hit, more and more companies wanted cartoon graphics. But there were some before Flyff. Also people that play them usually like anime.

yeah that sucks for me <_< im waiting for a new game with figures like sro/perfectworld etc but most of them seem anime style....hope it changes

I don't think I have played a cartoon like mmo for over an hour... I suppose they make it for people that like anime or something??

I watch a lot of anime and I was really excited about the idea that a mmo has cel shaded graphics like that.

But when I played the first game of this kind I noticed that it was awful. I like the cel shade but they are always designed for little kids or something. I've seen cool cel shaded graphics too.

Well, it's everyone's own business what they make or what the play. If you like childish designs then I don't see why you should play these kinds of games. Everyone should be happy.

Well, the reason for all sorts of people are different. Some people like them because it just fits their taste with all the bright colors and cutesy (?) graphics. Some prefer to get away from all the violent and gruesome games. It's a pretty broad question.

I think its just the company's/producer/developer's choice in order to bring in a broader audience(kids, adults, etc).

Larger audience = larger potential revenue.

yeah but my logic said there would be more teen/adult players than kids o.0? thats y i was wondering why companies would make a game for a minority... sigh guess its changing now though

The people like the carton graphics because it's anime'ish....the big heads and eyes...i don't get why people play FPS....but i don't call them out on it

It's simple. It's people's preference and companies realize there is a large amount of people that like games with these kind of graphics. What's the reason that people like them? Ask them.

I personally have never gotten it either, yet they are rather popular. I refuse to play one, i tried flyff... and was done with it in 10mins. Big turn off for me in a game.

I like anime, but IMO games so sweet isn't a good idea. I dont know who plaing that games... kids? ok if kids plaing that games there is too much titles with graphics like that.

i would have to say for the fun and humor the player would have of playing a cartoonish like character. i know or at least remember when i was a kid i would often wish i could do a lot of the things that some of the cartoon characters i grew up with could do. yes i know i'm sort of admitting my age lol. But since you can do and get away with cartoonish antics and hijinx in an online mmo it makes it fun to be able to play a character like that.
