Blizzard's 17 year success

Blizzard released the World of Warcraft 2.4 patch on March 25, 2008. And on March 31st, its StarCraft franchise celebrated 10-year anniversary. There is endless reporting about Wrath of the Lich King and the discussion about StarCraft II seems to never end, blah blah blah. Any small actions taken by Blizzard would affect the players' feeling. Like many other game companies, Blizzard used to be a small and unknown company, but over the years, it has developed into a big name in the world and made amazing achievements. However, how much do you know about its growing-up process? Do you know what it is like when it is still a little "baby"? And how do you look upon the future of Blizzard? Do you have any suggestions or hopes for Blizzard? And what are they?

I think it will be very long. Blizzard is big company and they made a lot of very good games.

And what I mean is, I don't care about Blizzard, I don't like spending money on games so I have never played WoW but I've played the single player games and they were sweet. They were sweet, but what made them sweet was that there weren't any better games I could play on my pieceofcrap old computer.

But if I wasn't so carefree then I'd say that they should make more single player interesting fantasy games or something... I don't really like strategy games and stuff like Final Fantasy actually keeps me interested.

Someboy asked why this season we get so less questions. So I add some more questions in the contest. And the award also have increased. XD

I don't know, I bet it'll be a long time.

How far away? What does that mean? If I understand it correctly then I'd say that I expect it to go a long way, make new games and get even more richer.

I'd like them to make some fantasy adventure games. Kind of like Diablo but better.

Im really only interested in rpgs I think there in the right direction.

I dont know about this hydra project im sure it will be awesome but I would prefer them to continue with Diablo I loved the game but they havent updated it for like 2+ years...It kind of ticks me off.

Answer: Until the end of the oil Age, becouse we need oil to get electricity, computers and so on and so on.

Answer: I think it will go indefinitaly, it will only close if something bad happens, but blizzard is to smart to let a gold fountain like WoW, to dissapear.

Answer: Really dont know, i think that Blizzard will have succes even if it just make new expansion for old games, like Wacraft 3, it would be nice to have a new expansion or a warcraft 4.

Answer: Dont really like Diablo, but a secret project would be nice

Nowadays, it seems like most of their attention is on WOW.
Yes, Starcraft II is on the way, but what happen to Diablo? Fans have been screaming for it for years. I would hope they could spare some attention to some other single-player games, maybe another Diablo?

2.From the increasing number of players for WOW, I'll guess they would continue to lead the market for another 5-8 years.

3.Unless they push WOW into another age, I feel that WOW is almost at its end, by end, I mean the storyline. After the lich king, I don't think there's any other major badass left in the present timeline for WOW.

4. hmm, let's see, racing, FPS,maybe a return to those click & explore games?

1. Blizzard was an outstanding company right from the start. As far as I know, every Blizzard game made was a big hit among players. Right now, I'm looking forward to it's next addition to the Diablo Franchise.

2. I believe that Blizzard will continue being successful for many years to come. The games they made are of excellent quality compared to many other game developers, and every one of them featured its own unique gameplay. This shows that Blizzard aims to develop outstanding games, which will assure its ongoing success.

3. World of Warcraft is undoubtly the best mmorpg out there. Packed with its few million players, including big fans of the Warcraft franchise, the game will definitely continue its reign for 3-5 years or even longer. I'm not a WoW player, but I can clearly see that its players and Blizzard are still very enthusiastic about the game. With that I am confident that the game will be good a for a few more major expansions, which will keep the game alive and kicking for years. However, Blizzard, having made 4 full games based on Warcraft, pretty much signals the end of Warcraft franchise.

4. I would like to see Blizzard make a mainstream single-player game. Hopefully a fps, to compete with other games like Valve's Half-Life 2 and EA's Crysis. OR a single-player rpg to compete with games like The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, The Witcher, and Gothic 3. However, I sternly believe that Blizzard would be better off making a rpg since it has plenty of experience from having made Diablo and WoW.

5. As stated in my first answer, I'm looking forward to the next Diablo game. The first 2 Diablo games were originally online role-playing games, which shows that the Diablo concept has massive potential to be developed into Blizzard's next big mmorpg.

Heh..I remember when Blizzard was young and wet behind the ears. Does anyone remember the game Blackthorne? Hehe. Very old Game, I had it on my Mac. Just though I would drop a bit of nostalgia.

I would love to see them re-make that game today, with all the advancements in graphics they have available to them, but I doubt it would ever happen.

For a long time I bet. Blizzard is the first English game developer I've encountered.

Personally I don't like their Warcraft series that much... Ppl would get bored of WoW one day, and they'll develop something better. For the RTS series, I think they're probably gonna use SC2's system on new Warcraft RTS series.

Probably MMOFPS games. Im a big fan of FPS games, especially massively multiplayer ones.

I loved Diablo II so much that I couldn't resist from playing it during my exam week. Diablo III is a must. I prefer 2D graphics than 3D. 2D graphics is the main unique feature of the Diablo series; if it goes 3D, ppl would think its just an ordinary RPG game with good graphics.

I think if Blizzard came out of their comfort zone they could actually do something amazeing. I think yea they have the experience with WoW to do more great MMO's and whatnot but sitting in your comfort zone in a industry like we have today, i think sooner or later, despite what people think right now theyll get bored with the RTS's/RPG's Bliz. puts out, but thats my 2c. Possibly a FPS like others have said to compete with the many popular FPS's out right now.

- Like i said above i think Bliz needs to come out of its mainstream expected games and do something new. As far as how long theyll continue their success, with a cash cow like WoW itll be years.

- How far will WoW go? Not sure im in the proccess of finishing Warcraft 3 and its expansion, but like others i do think their running out of a storyline for this era of Warcraft.

- I absolutely love Diablo and Diablo 2/D2X and i think sooner or later they could do another Diablo game but personally id prefer a secret project over another Diablo, im waiting and watching for Blizzard to show the world how creative they really are and do something new and exciteing.

I don't think it will go very far. Most people I know that play it only like it for the graphics. I excpect it to quickly plumit in to the ground.

I want to see more of Diablo! I've heard that they are coming out with a Diablo III. But only seen picture of it coming out on PS3. thats probably a lie since if they did that alot of their customers will not get the 3rd one because, they do not own a PS3 yet, or, never plan on getting one.
