I found it, at least graphically, more polished than most games I end up trying out. It reminds me of when I first tried out Guild Wars (the look).
Think of it as a toned down Mythos or Diablo, because it's the same concept in terms of running around a seemingly randomly generated map, killing monsters third person view (is that 3/4 top down?..), and finding (or in the CB case, not finding...) loot while questing or finishing goals for said map.
The way you interact with others is very Diablo reminiscent because it's not a big world map, but you host games based on how leveled your hall is. The more money you garner through map slogging, the more you can deck out the hall and buy other characters to play as.
Yep, you don't get to play as any one set character, you buy your hall's warriors and you cycle through them, hiring who you want to play as. They also do die (after three deaths on a map) and if they die, you can use their souls on other characters, or pay to raise them from the dead. Very interesting system... (btw, it's much easier to make in-game money by playing with others than going solo).
I haven't actually played for very long, barely got past a few levels, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have promise. The reason why I got disinterested was because the loot system wasn't fully implemented yet, and I'm a sucker for random drops. Without random drops, my reasons for playing grind-type mmos disappear, so I log in occasionally to see what's changed, waiting for that loot system to be implemented.
It only feels really grindy if you're soloing, but with others, working together, it's actually pretty fun.
My only beef is that map levels load independently with players (so if one player doesn't have a map fully downloaded -everyone- has to wait on him/her) and that all players in a game can't finish the session until everyone steps into the finishing portal (so if you get the douche who doesn't step on, you don't finish and get your loot and there's no kick button implemented yet).
Its got potential, so yeah, keep your eye out on those forum contests and hopefully you get a chance to see for yourself whether you like it or not.
