As the other day, I have mentioned Tales of Vesperia which is being made for either the PS3 or 360 or both. But Bandai Namco Games has not forgotten their Nintendo fans. And is comming out with the sequal to probably the most popular J-RPG on the Gamecube known as Tales of Symphonia. Yes, a Tales of Symphonia 2 has been announced exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. Tales of Symphonia 2 also goes by the name of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World. Tales of Symphonia 2 has been announced at the 2008 Jump Festa event in Japan, that it will be released in Japan by Spring 2008.

Tales of Symphonia 2 will take place two years after the events of the original Tales of Symphonia. There will be new characters to play with and some old character from the previous game will be making appearances, such as Llyod, Colette, Raine, Zelos and etc. Whether the old characters will be playable or not is still up in the air, although Colette has been confirmed to be playable. Also according to some translations done, some of the old characters might even be your enemy in this sequal and that you will have to fight against them, but remember this is still just speculation.

Also here are the names of the three new heroes for Tales of Symphonia 2:

Emil Castagnier

Richter Abend

The battlesystem of Tales of Symphonia 2, will resemble the battlesystem from Tales of the Abyss. Also players will be able to catch and breed monsters to have them fight by Emil's side in battles.

Sadly Tales of Symphonia 2 will not have the field map that was use in Tales of Symphonia or Tales of Legendia. But will use a more old style world map that was use in Tales of Phantasia. You will be given a map, with names of places and you will use the Wii-mote's motion censoring to point and click to the destination you want to go to.

A new game mechanic has been introduced that will allow players to capture over 200 monsters and raise them to help out in battle. The real time battle system is back allowing you to switch your attacking character on the fly, even in the middle of battle. The graphics have received an upgrade for the Wii as well with new character and background designs. While there are quite a few changes, onlookers observed that it is still very similar to the original. Go to the source link after this sentence to see some new screenshots of the game. -Source

For now that is all the information there is. I'll update as more information gets revealed.

Heck yeah, this is gonna be the best RPG game for the Wii.

Btw, the Japan release date is June 26th and it should be around August in US. Though it has no Europe release date yet...

I read about this months ago in Nintendo Power. I love the fact that characters from the first one will be making appearances in this installment. I also like the fact that the story takes place after the first one so its more of a new chapter.

Also Tales of Vesparia is being released for Xbox360 only. The trailers and storyline for this one lokks really good.

I can't wait to plahy both of these.

The style for the characters remind of Kingdom Hearts.

I'm not familiar with the battlesystem from Tales of the Abyss. Is is anything like Tales of S for the GCN?

Regardless, I'm excited for this game. Hope they work on the overall presentation of the game though. ToS for the GCN was a bit lackluster in the small things (menus, environments)

Generally the battle system for any Tales game is very similar, it is one of the trademarks of the series. I have been looking forward to a sequel to this game since I finished the first one.

Updated the first post with 3 new trailers and with the Japanese box art of the game.

Also Bandai Namco have announced that they'll be releasing some new information regarding Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World(NA) for Wii at the upcoming event E3 2008. So we might get a official release date for North America then hopefully.
