What are the hindrance of being a f2p player?
as a f2p player you are limited to the astrub area, you can't be an alchemist, you can't do the dungeons, you can't join alignements, you can't gather several resources (as they aren't present in the astrub aera), you can't access to the kennel to heal pets and put them in the kennel to protect them, you can explore the whole map but are limited to walking and speaking outside astrub
here is a description of the difference between p2p and f2p

How can I get back to Incarnam?
If you are under level 16, you can return to Incarnam by clicking on any class statue in Astrub. Players level 16 and up are unable to return.

How does energy work? What happens if I reach 0 energy?
Losing any fights drains energy points, except for challenge and perceptor defense.

Defeat against a perceptor drain a huge amount of energy.

You can raise your energy amount by logging out while in your home or in a tavern, using any of the "Ball" potions, or some breads.

If you reach 0 energy, you are turned into a ghost. In this state you have 2 way to became solid again : finding a phoenix statue (you can find their location flagged on your map when you are a ghost) or finding a priest that may use some energy special potion that may raise your energy

I left Incarnam, but now I can't get back! Can someone help me?
Players who are under level 15 can click on any class statue in Astrub (Or Pandala) to get a teleport back to Incarnam. If you're over level 15 and you leave Incarnam, you cannot return.

How can I create a group ? (I was invited into one yesterday, but I want to create a group of my own now)
you create a group by inviting one other player. Either click on the player and choose "Invite" or type "/invite playername"

How can I sell the ressources / items I find?
there is several way to sell items or ressources :

*selling it to another player
*selling it to a non player character that have the "buy/sell" option (there is some in the Amakna village and in many special buildings)
*selling by the merchant mode (P2P only)
*selling in a hotel of sale

How can I tell the important buildings from the normal ones?
If you open your map and activate all filters, you will see a symbol on each map with an important building.
many important building have a special design and you can enter in by using a teleporter similar to those who permit you to walk from map to map (that is the biggest difference with the houses that are accessible by clicking on the door)

Is there a point in learning a trade? Cutting trees or wheat looks even more boring than hunting birds and bugs...
trade give you several "bonus", first, they permit you to sell items, second they give you a bonus for the inventory capacity (+5 pods per trade level and a bonus of 1000 pods at level 100), baker and alchemist produce items that heal and raise energy...

Where can I find the list of all the /commands available? A nice player told me about /sit and /w and /p, but I couldn't find anything about this on the site... :(

I'm level 35. why do I gain 10 000 XP with a group and only 11 000 XP with a group that's much higher in level?there is a XP cap. the optimal XP earning can be found against a monster that have a few more level than you. if you fight extra large group that sums 2 or 3 times your level this will not give you many more XP than the optimal XP earning. For this reason, when fighting large, high-level groups of monsters, it is a good idea to have several team mates to help break the XP cap.


Why can't I drop some items? What is a prospection gap?
For some items, the prospecting of the entire group must be greater than a certain number, or the item has no chance of dropping at all.
Most players have a base prospecting of 100 (enus are different, but never mind that for the moment). Prospecting is boosted by Chance. Ten points of chance = 1 point of prospecting. F2P players cannot contribute to prospecting, no matter how much chance they have.
If an item has a 300 prospecting lock and a 10% chance of dropping, that means that the party needs a prospecting total equal to or greater than 300 (three P2P players). Once that total is met, then - and ONLY then - does the group have a 10% chance to receive the item as a drop.
If the group has less than that 300 prospecting, they have no chance to get the drop at all.
Prospecting locks are hidden, and most of them are unknown. The exact prospecting lock of Leek Pie (according to the wiki) is =<257 (that's equal to or less than 257). That means that a party with 257 prospecting got the drop. other than that, who knows?

Do players who are killed in a battle get the same drops as other players?As long as the group as a whole wins the battle, all players with the same prospecting will have the same chance of getting drops. The major exception to this is Enutrofs who cast Fortune and Living Shovel - if they are killed during a battle, they will not receive a PP bonus from their Chance buffs, but they will retain their base prospecting statistics.

How do I make a guild? How do I join a guild? How come every time I attack a horse thing some high level people join him? To make a guild you need a Guildogem. A guildogem is a universal drop - that means that it has a small chance to drop from just about every monster in the game.

You must be invited into a guild. If you post your class and level here , someone may invite you to join their guild.

Finally, the "horse things" are Collectors (also known as "Perceptors"). Collectors are NPCs that are placed by guilds to collect taxes. When someone attacks a guild Collector, the guild members can join the fight from anywhere in the world to protect the Collector.


How do I delete a character I don't want anymore?On the character window, click on the X you see next to your character's name. But remember to put all your items and money in the bank before you delete the character, else your items wil be lost forever.

I can't equip an item! The conditions say that I need Strength > 4 and Intelligence > 1, but I have 4 Strength and 1 Intelligence!The symbol > means "Greater than." This means that in order to equip the item, you must have at least 5 Strength and 2 Intelligence. Greater than is not the same as "equal to".

Since Pandawas are P2P-only, what happens to my Pandawa if I let my account expire?The character will still be there, and will still be usable. However, all F2P characters are reset to their statue, and since the Pandawa statue is on Pandala, not Astrub, you won't be able to interact with anything there. However, you can still run back to Astrub manually, save at the Astrub Zaap, and be able to continue as a F2P player.


What does it cost to use a forgetfulness potion for a spell?The price to buy a forgetfulness potion from a temple NPC is always fixed. (The current price is 1000 each) The price to use the potion varries depending on your level.

The equation is ( (Your Level) x (Your Level) x 25) / 4, then rounded down to a multiple of 10,000.

I'm trying to equip this shield that I got, but I can't! In the conditions is says Rank>0. What does that mean? What's a rank?
All shields require you to have ranks in a PVP alignment. This means that you need to be either Bonta or Brakmarian, and have your wings turned on (which means that you want to engage in PVP aggression play). In order to gain ranks in PVP, you have to aggress and defeat players who are in your opposing alliance (Bramarians must defeat Bontans, Bontans must defeat Brakmarians).

Shields are only useful in preventing damage from other players, they will not protect you from monsters.

If you are F2P, you will be unable to join an alignment.


I need to transfer an item to another character on my account. Can I do this?If the two characters are on the same account and the same server, they will share the same bank account. All characters on a server use the same account. When your Osa on Rushu puts 20 gobball wool into the bank, your Cra on Rushu will see that same 20 wool when they check the bank.

There is no way to transfer items between servers. If you have a Xelor on Jiva and a Feca on Rushu, you will not be able to share items between those two characters.


Are same sex marriages allowed?Yes they are. No risk to get banned.

For newbies: originally, same sex marriage was not included in the code but a bug allowed some players to marry.

Are Free to Play characters allowed to marry?The only way to get married is to speak to the priest NPC at the church near Iop temple. As this NPC is in the Pay to Play area, F2Ps cannot use it to get married.

I want to move a character to another account/server. Can I do this?It is currently impossible to move an established character to a different server or account. If you want to use the same name and appearance, you can delete the original character and then re-use the name on another server or account. However, none of the original character's equipment, statistics, money, or items will accompany the new character.

I have this item and I don't know what it is used for, or how to make another. How can I find out?If you want to see what items can be used for, select the item in your inventory, the click the Magnifying Glass button beneath the item's picture in the main display. This will bring up a list of all recipes that use that particular item. If it can be crafted (and the recipe is not a secret recipe), the items needed to craft it will also be shown.





How to Exchange from a mount certificate?
To exchange a mount, you must visit a paddock (either a private guild paddock that you have access to or a public paddock in Bonta or Brakmar). If you move your mount to the shed or to the breeding paddock, it will retrieve the mount. From there, you can move it back to your inventory.

I haven't been active in game or these forums for the past few months. I'm sure no one's noticed as I mostly kept to myself and rarely posted here and rarely posted here.

I began this guide last December but, due to lack of time and inspiration, it hardly got off the ground. While my future in Dofus is still to be determined, I've decided to call it quits with this project as I have more important commitments elsewhere. But I do hate to see this go to waste. I still find it funny and with any luck a few of you out there will as well.

Basic Gameplay

Walking from Map to Map

As you traverse the country-side, slaying dreggons, raping the earth of it's precious resources, and rescuing stray princesses you are bound to encounter one of these symbols on the ground:





Now, don't panic! It's not aggressive! In fact, over time, you may grow to like them and maybe even.....love them.

When you do finally encounter one click on it as fast as you can. This will teleport you to a new and foreign land.

At this point you may feel some remorse and even some pangs of guilt hiding under those pangs of hunger. It's natural to miss the old world you left behind. But, believe me, that place doesn't give two shits about you. You're better off without it.

And who knows? You might return there some day.

Character Development
Dofus is an RPG. (Those letters are meaningless so don’t bother asking.) This means that there’s a lot of math and die rolling happening behind the scenes. To make your character more powerful than Jehovah himself you need to learn to manipulate those numbers to your advantage.

Oh no! I failed basic arithmetic!

That’s perfectly fine. Most players can’t add, subtract, or sign their names properly. But you don’t need no fancy degree to play Dofus. In this game there’s only one goal.

…Which is?

Haven’t you been listening? NUMBERS. I said NUMBERS. And not just any old number will do. You need big numbers. Big, big numbers. The bigger the better. Even a number like 999,999,999,999,999,999 isn’t big enough. You need numbers so big that you have to write them out in capitals – numbers like !((),()(,#$^*,&*$,#%,!#$,^@$,%&#,$%^. Now that’s a number.

Unfortunately, because of all the math, there are many, many places with numbers you need to biggify. Let’s take a moment to look at some of the most common ones:
