Hi, its me again. Im missing in actions for about 4 months during my course of study :)

here are my crazy ideas again, and i post here for pure fun and interest in the topics..

Mmosite is a site that focus on advertising, and with more people coming to this site, the more money they can earn indirectly..

therefore, as people of mmosite, (us) be it mods or players. we have the responsibility to help mmosite and make this environment a second home instead of the games we are playing from the mmosite..

The ONLY way for the success of mmosite is to have ever lasting GROWTH of people visiting this site..
In order to do so.. this is what i can suggest..

Ever heard of network marketing?
its contains many forms and it start off from the main person and spread to different sublines where the top "leech" the bottomlines profit..

the same can also be applied to mmosite..

example:

i introduce my friend name Alice and bob..

they enter my referal account

alice and bob started to like mmosite..

they earnt about 10 mmogold after 1 month..

i get to leech 10% of their gold after the reach the 10mmogold tresthold.

all ur programmer needs to do is to:

1. find a way to allow the new comers enter the referal person.
2. find an algorithm to check the new comers mmogold periodically and check if they have 10mmogold..
3. if they have, give the referal +1 mmogold to their system..

i think ur programmers are gonna to hate me for this haha..

in this way, all i need to do is just to intro more people to this site and hope they post more to "leech" from them! Ya!!

I think we were discussing this in the mod forum a while back. I think its a pretty good idea.... Though there should be a cut off eventually say as the person earns 50g and you have earned 10% then you don't earn anymore gold from that user.

Actually this can really backfire, especially if it is 10%.

Why?

Well those site's have a solid return. The ones that usually do it are those pyramid scheme sites to get more people's information to sell for questionnaires and other offers.

The return on that is every time you fill one of those things out, they make a bundle more than you get in return. This allows them to be able to give out some of it to referrals to increase their profit margin even more.

You may try to make a rebuttal saying that with the new system, it will make it more difficult to get mmogold. This is both a true and false statement, and for it to truly work it needs to be heavily altered and monitored.

It is true in the sense that if the user is just posting, that it will take them time to acquire that.

It is false in the sense that we are making more methods to earn mmogold, and offering more things to the shop to encourage even more purchases of mmogold.

Now 50 mmogold may not sound a lot to the average user, but you have to think of it from the other side. 50mmogold= roughly $5 USD

If you offer that 10% for if the user becomes a mod, wins a contest, or even just buys the gold, that 10% can come a lot quicker than you think.

You also need to think of what it would bring in terms of spam. "Get your friends to join, and earn 10% of the gold they make!" Okay, this may encourage people to bring more active people. But in the slew of spammers you get in return, you may find one to two gems per large bundle. This means that the mods and staff would need to work a lot harder to go through all this.

This may also promote people to "remake" accounts for their buddies and start anew. MMOSITE has a lot of users, and it has a lot of people viewing the site. The main problem is not getting people, but getting them to post.

If you attract enough of the current users to post, it will be the best advertisement you could ask for, and the best free one at that.....Word of mouth, or in the terms of the internet "word of text". That is the cheapest, best, most useful form of advertisement you could ask for.

Now does your plan provide that? In a sense yes, but it also costs more than free, and it comes with a lot more spammers.

There is also a flip side to that. Say it doesn't bring as much spammers. It may just get a bunch of people to invite and invite and invite.

User A has 0 posts, but invited 10 people. Those 10 people don't post but invited 10 more each. In a sense this is a bit cheaper, but then you have a lot of dead, inactive accounts. Some people will just sign up to get referrals and not do the work or try to get into the community at all.... When that happens we are back at square one.

So the current and I believe best way to do it is via getting the urge to post back into the community. Not just bribing to get more users.

Slowly but surely I do think we are on the slow path to attempting to do that. With more and more contests being spread from the board, to the answer section, and so forth, you get people to look and to take part to try to win items for their games.

Also shop is bringing in more and more things every month. As that grows people may be more interested in buying the things in it. While this may not entirely attract them to post, it may bring more interest in the site as well.

To be perfectly honest and blunt, I do think that idea will either just cost money, and provide more work, or just will make a lot of inactive accounts. While yes, that idea is a start, I do not see it as a solution.
