There was a rumor about the Chinese version going F2P for some reason I do not know why because Chinese version is going very strong aswell. I doubt WoW will go P2P anytime soon.

Look if wow would go f2p the world would go crazy because they have to pay money to keep the realms and everything good and in good conditions to play also they need to pay for guys to improve the game and add expansion they are always doing something different so if the game is f2p there would be mor epeople playing it and they would br getting less money...i really doubt it to go free..

LOL WoW go f2p hmm i say it cant but maybe chinese version would go free with cashshop in it because china got lot of ppl in it means more ppl use cash shop which means they can keep the updates

they wouldnt make it F2P because they do need to make money, since its kinda like a never ending game because of all the patches and stuff

The orginal Blizzard version of World of Warcraft is not f2p, BUT, u can play for free in so called "private" servers. Alot of ppl do it, even tho this is illegal. On that sort of server u just download the game and set ur realmlist to the wanted server, and then ur good to go.
I do NOT recommend this sort of server and i want them all to be banished from the face of earth.
So, this is what u maybe have heard of. But to answer ur question, no orginall WoW isent free. Illegal private servers are.

Private servers are not illegal because they have their own realmlist. If they were illegal, Blizzard would have closed them a long time ago. It's just more boring to play on the private servers because there's not many people on them and there's bugs

Ragnarok1993 Please don't say things you no nothing about, anything that is copied dosnt matter if it has the same name it is still copied, Private WoW servers have the same interface, the same monsters, the same equips(may be different names) but still they are all copied from the original version aka WoW made by Blizzard Entertainment.
