Some ideas on what class you should pick before NA Dragon Nest comes out!

Jul 24, 2011 5:51 am
(First off, I must apologize for not being active on this forum for ages. This was all due to the crazy amounts of studying required for school. Now that I'm free, I will be posting skill builds and guides to help everyone out in NA Dragon Nest.)

Now onto the topic. I will talk about the 8 different level 40 sub-classes currently in CNDN. (Mainly their efficiency in dugeons and PVP (and some personal toughts))

Warrior:
Swordsman:
Has an average amount of HP. Uses the sword as his weapon. Can do long ranged magic attacks or fast close ranged combo attacks. Does ok in dungeons/nests, however not many would group with you in high level nests. Does very well in 1v1 PvP and ok in group PvP. Pick swordsman if you want very cool looking skills and to PvP. DO NOT pick if you want to FOCUS on dungeon/nest play.

Mercenary:
Has an average amount of HP. Uses the axe/hammer as his weapon. Does mostly close ranged high damage medium speed attacks. Does well in dungeons/nests, most people don't want you in nests but continue on playing, people would need you eventually when the sea dragon 8 player nest is released. Does well in all PvP situations. Pick mercenary if you want to PvP and dungeon/nest at the same time, and also if your starting out, mercenary is the choice to go as he is easy to play.

Archer:
Sharpshooter:
Has a low amount of HP. Uses the Longbow/crossbow as her weapon. Does very long ranged high damage but slow attacks. Does well in dungeons/nests, especially nests(lots of single bosses). Does very well against single boss monsters, but bad against groups of monsters. Most people would want you in high level nests. Does ok in PvP situations. Pick if you want to focus on dungeons/nests, and want to do some PvP.

Acrobat:
Has a low amount of HP. Uses the Shortbow as her weapon. Does short ranged medium damage fast attacks. Does horrible in dungeons/nests. No one will group with you in all kinds of hard nests. Does godly in 1v1 PvP, and bad in group PvP. Pick if you are a loner, or wants to purely focus on 1v1 PvP. Pick with caution!

Cleric:
Paladin:
Has the most amount of HP. Uses the Mace/Flail as his weapon and carries a shield. Does short ranged attacks with rather low damage(can be raised with armor ofc). The main tank in the game has all kinds of defense skills that when used correctly can make him invulneralble 100% of the time, all high level nests (especially 8 player sea dragon)require him. Does ok in PvP situations. Pick if you want to focus on dungeons/nests and do some PvP.

Priest:
Has a lot of HP. Uses the Wand as his weapon and carries a shield. Has very low damage electric attacks but has a lot of buffs and healing skills. The only healer/support in the game. Required in all high level Nests(8 player sea dragon nest mainly). Does horrible in 1v1 PvP, and pretty good in group PvP. pick if you want to focus on dungeons/nests and group play.

Sorceress:
Elementalist:
Has the lowest amount of HP. Uses the staff as her weapon. Does the highest damage in game with her fire and ice skills. Does ok in all PvP and dungeon/Nest situations. Pick if you want pretty skills and high damage, and don't want high end control on your side.

Mystic:
Has the lowest amount of HP. Uses the staff as her weapon. Has lots of high damage control skills. Godly in Dungeons/Nests with her shorten CD skill, time freeze and monster grouping skills. Everyone wants to group with her. Good in PvP as well. Pick if you want a well rounded spell casting character.

This is just to give you a general idea on the different types of classes of Dragon Nest, if you have any questions please feel free to ask below.

some are correct, some just plain wrong -
ie merc  - "Does well in dungeons, most people would need you in hard dungeons" - no one, ever, wants merc in their party, save for SD.
bowmaster (sharpshooter - -) - "Does very long ranged high damage but slow attacks" - bm has 1 slow, but crazy damaging, skill..
elemental lord - "Does the highest damage in game" - no, just no.

hard dungeon means those 8 ppl dungeons where you fight that sea dragon, 1 merc is required in those dungeons because of their damage nullification buff/debuff, hence MOST people.

Bowmasters are slow srsly most of their skills need time to use hence why i say slow. And their damage is crazy good against single targets not multiple.

Elemental lord does have the highest damage in the game, but were nerfed after T3. But still 1 single skill from them can kill me in PVP hence the highest damage.

I don't really know what people pick. The way I see it, as long as you're good enough a player you'll be fine anyway. Of course the classes focus on specific play styles. But that's where player skill is needed, to fill the weakness of their class.

    Very true.
I made this thread just to show people what different classes are good at, so people know what class fits them most.

What exactly is a hard dungeon? A Nest? That's no longer considered a dungeon imo. That's a Nest. Because most dungeons can be solo'd up to Master difficulty by any Class without that much skill needed.

Btw, do you know anything about the level 45 sub-professions? I believe they're out in CNDN already?

yes, i know all about them, was planning to make this post about them but i don't think its time yet to post those things, you can ask me anything in specific if you want though, i'll answer as much as i can

If you'd like we can talk about it in PMs though. I'd just like to know as much as I can about them. I know the Priest can become a Saint or Inquisitor and the Paladin is a Guardian and Crusader. The former for both being Support/Defense and the latter being Offense. However I don't know about the others.

Also another thing to note. I've noticed the classes that focus heavily on 1v1 PvP in terms of their focus and skills excel in Dungeons against a Boss IMO. I remember doing some parties in the DN Sea CBT where I'd be a Paladin, and while trying to take on an Abyss Manticore without a Swordsman or any 1v1 focused Class, the rest of the team would get wiped when I couldn't hold the aggro anymore when it drags on for too long. He's been the only boss yet that I haven't been able to hold aggro with :( I do need to work on my threat building though.

However whenever I was with PvP or 1v1 oriented classes we'd kill him quickly and before anyone would be killed and within the limit of me being able to hold him down.

      1. that's ONE nest, and i specified that merc is needed for SD(sea dragon).
      2. bowmaster arent slow srsly(duh..), trust me on this i know what i'm talking about. my friends playing almost every class out there, and some classes ie elemental lord, force user, merc, are much slower. but sm and arco are much faster, yes, but you can't call bm slow by any means
      3. i'm pretty sure there are no SINGLE skill that can kill someone in pvp.. - -

I've always seen BM (Sharpshooter) as a spam type Nuking class as they have less action/twitch skill based abilities and more active skills and some of their skills even render them immobile. But they do have the advantage of long range.

        no point in arguing lol

bowmaster aren't the fastests anyways, high damaging characters all have slow attacks or else they'll be OP thats the general trend

single skill is an exageration but still, I play wind walker and i get killed instantly if i fail to dodge any one of their skills= =

can u only choose one character in the game????

        Jul 24, 2011 4:26 pm
You get 4 character slots, but each class has 2 sub classes at lv 15, and you can only go 1 sub class.

then later on at level 45 each sub-class goes into 2 more subsub-classes...

          Jul 25, 2011 11:07 am
Is there any way to increase that number or do we just have to make another account?
