Applied the manual patch and finally able to get into the game.
I could not even apply the patch or update the game through the client at first, but after i did the following, everything is ok now:
For window xp, try the following:
Start -> Run -> ipconfig /flushdns
Start -> Run -> services.msc , then scroll down to find "DNS Client", right -click and choose "restart"
