Path of Exile’s War for the Atlas expansion launches on PC

Grinding GearGames launched the latest expansion for its action role-playing game Path ofExile today. War for the Atlas is available now on PC. It will come out for theXbox One version later this month.
This is Path ofExile’s seventh expansion since launching in 2013. The game is free-to-play,and that includes all expansions. Path of Exile supports itself withmicrotransactions, like additional stash tabs and character slots. Players canalso buy cosmetic items like pets and armor skins.
Despite its age,Path of Exile is growing. According to Grinding Gear Games, the ARPG saw a 58percent increase in hours played in 2017 compared to 2016. The constant releaseof updates and expansions has kept players engaged, and Path of Exile has proveda popular alternative to Diablo III for those looking for something moresimilar to the classic Diablo II. Path of Exile also adds new content morefrequently than Diablo III.
War for the Atlas poe adds 32 new maps for theend-game and a new boss, the Elder. The expansion also adds new weapons, armor,and gems.
Path of Exile'slore is complicated but this new chapter focuses on the war between twopowerful beings known as The Shaper and The Elder. If you've experienced thebase game, you may remember references to the conflict and characters. Theexpansion adds numerous missions and dungeons so expect dozens of hours ofadditional gameplay. What's most impressive is that War for the Atlasintroduces over thirty new maps with a lot of endgame items. The expansion alsoacts as a patch, as it improves balancing and other issues found in the XboxOne version.
There are alsoten new gems which behave somewhat like active and passive skills. Changingexisting ones and finding new combinations radically alters your attacks. Whileother role-playing games require you to swap out skills, Path of Exile requiresyou to swap out gems. The expansion also adds the Abyss Challenge League whereplayers can earn mysterious items called Abyss Jewels by fighting enemies eruptingfrom below. Abyss Jewels can be used to further upgrade your character anditems in unique ways.
