Indie Game City of Steam

Hey all, I'm Ethan and I work for an indie games developer, Mechanist Games. We're working on our debut title City of Steam.

If you've known of City of Steam and been keeping an eye on it since the game went public, be sure to sign up for our newsletter and keep an eye on our dev journals for up-to-date game development.

To those that don't know what City of Steam is (no surprise, we're an indie developer, so getting widespread recognition is relatively harder for us). It's a browser-based MMORPG featuring a mix of industrial fantasy and steampunk elements, lightweight enough to play smoothly on even non-gaming computers and acessible straight from your browser. Even then, thanks to Unity 3D and a lot of in-house tools, we've managed to still make it look quite impressive,and all stored in but a few megabytes. It’s been a heck of a ride thus far, and we’re hoping for an exciting Beta later this year. Stay tuned for more news soon, or post questions below.

Remember, we’re moving up on Greenlight but we need your help, so keep voting and spreading the word. We’re getting so close!

Besides, we're off to PAX and GDC 2013 in March. Go to our booth (582) and play City of Steam if you attend PAX too!

We may be small, but we’re very receptive to player  feedback too, and strive to openly discuss the development process. Feel  free to share your thoughts, and I’ll personally answer any questions you may have.

    We had a great GDC trip and Sneak Peek for City of Steam. Stay connected for more updates on the development of the game before Alpha comes out.

    Thanks for the interest. City of Steam is at its early development, and we launched a Sneak Peek test a month ago and got lots of feedback. We need time to digest player input and add new features and make it better, that's the main reason we don't announce the release date. Why not subscribe to our newsletters and then get the priority on receiving updates and alpha/beta keys for the game.

      City of Steam Alpha gameplay trailer released! Alpha testing starts in mid-July, so be sure to sign up on www.CityofSteam.com for our Newsletter to get priority on alpha keys. If you want a personalized alpha tour before anyone else, remember to join in the contest on our forum.

        After a terrific weekend, City of Steam’s 4th and final Alpha test has officially come to a close. Our thanks go out to all players who flooded in The Refuge last week; without your support, we couldn't have tested the game out as thoroughly. Also, we've piled up tons of player input since the test started, and will be looking into them shortly.  Be sure to keep an eye on our website and dev journals to keep up-to-date with Beta news and development!!
