Corvaxseek's Barbarian DPS/Supporter PvE skill build | Gear choice

Finally I decided to share my current skill build to everyone. It's not the best skill build but for me, it fits my play style.

Here is my rock 'n' roll, troll for life build!

Warrior + Mercenary trees:

Like I said. I use this build just only for PvE. I found no interest in PvP. So here the reasons:

I/For Warrior tree:

I don't use Drop kick and Sweeping kick. Because it doesn't necessary in PvE, also you aren't a kick Paladin (hehe). So instead of wasting 12SP in both skills, I used it on another.

Brush Off: I prefer to get it at lvl 4 WITH |3 debuffs removed, 39 seconds cooldown|. Makes me more flexible to use it when needed.

MP and MP recovery: With 46k MP and 4.2% MP regen every 1 minute. I have no problem with it. So more SP for other skills.

II/For Mercenary tree:

- We all know that Mercenary has 2 Super Armor skills: Iron Skin and Charging Howl (Empowering Howl in NA). Which gives me a longer Super armor buff and higher defense, dmg reduction on physical - magic dmg (thanks Koinz for clarifying me about this). Not only that, it's also a good skill to use (help) people in my party, beside my self.

That's the reason why I maxed Charging Howl at lvl 5. Using it along with Iron Skin can give me total 70 seconds to freely dealing dmg without getting knock/push back.

Note: After 17 secs of Iron Skin + 36 secs of Charging Howl. Then I can use Iron Skin again. But I only use it when needed, depends on the situation. Using the buffs wisely can help me reduce the dmg taken for a long time, about more than 2 mins.

- Battle Howl: since I already have more than 17k crit (cap at lvl50). This skill is useless for my build.

III/For Barbarian tree:

- Bone Crash is a specific skill from Barbarian. It increase the dmg not only for user but the whole party. Good skill to use frequently on bosses.

I got it lvl 2 from my skill ring with "+1 Bone Crasher". Boosted the dps and incrase the duration by 1 second. With skill crest 'Bone Crasher +20% duration' we will have:

11 x 1.2 = 13.2 secs.

From that I will have 13 secs to help my party and my self to deal more dmg. If used at the right time we can deal tons of dmg on bosses.

You might wonder why I got Rising Slash at 13 and Circle Bomb at 8 right. I did a calculation based on Chaose' guide.

From the build I have 2 options for Rising Slash and Circle Bomb:

1/ Rising Slash at 16 and Circle Bomb at 5. (RS - CB)
2/ RS at 13 and CB at 8.

Given: Attack = 8803, Dmg reduction from defence = 0.5, all critical dmg. I have the Damage in 1minute as below:

1/ 155009.6125 Damage total.
2/ 157174.9125 Damage total.

Roughly 2000 dmg different between the builds. So my choice would be the 2nd build.

I also wanna add Circle Bomb to lvl 9 to maximum dmg output, and leave Charging Howl at lvl 4. But it's another story, I'm looking forward for Green Dragon Nest atm.

For lvl 40: (Mostly for Sea Dragon nest)
At this lvl we clearly become a Howler/Supporter more than DPS in party. This build can maximize the supporting from you to party.

#Note: You might want to get Taunting Howl at lvl 10 instead of 9 and leaving Circle Bomb at 2. The rest SP can go to Warrior tree, that is for you to decide which skill you want to top up.

Suggestion skill crests: (for stronger support)
- Battle Howl +20% duration.
- Iron Skin +20% duration.
- Charging Howl (Empowering Howl) -20% cooldown.
- If you see that you can't use Destructive Scream (Devastating Howl) on time to debuff Sea Dragon. I would recommend you to use that skill crest with -12% cooldown. Although it will only reduce 10s from 120 to 110. Or choose Whirlwind +20% dmg crest.

#Note: You might want to choose Giganic Bomber instead of Cyclone Axe for faster casting time and cooldown. More flexible to use on nest's bosses.

Gear choice
The most important one beside build is gear and hidden potencial. My choices are:

Armor 'n' Necklace - Earrings:

- Strength - Agility - HP. (higher DPS)
- Strength - Vitality - HP. (more HP)

Weapons 'n'  Rings: Physical - Strength - Agility.

You can optimize your weapons - rings with 17% crit too. But it's hard as hell to get.

Why not having Vitality but Agility? IMO Barbarian is not only Howler/Supporter but also a DPS in party. I would prefer to maximize my dmg instead of having high HP - Defense because I'm not a tank nor Paladin to facing bosses all the time.

*In the stats weight for Warrior we have:
1 STR = 0.5 pDMG, 2.5 stun, 3 para, 3 para resist
1 AGI = 0.25 pDMG, 3.5 crit, 10.5 crit resist
1 VIT = 30 HP, 0.6 pDEF, 2.5 stun resist

So it's best to have Agi on gear cuz it adds some phys/crit/crit resist to our stats.

Yup, I'm still using Ancient Totem set with suffix II (crafted all). I'm not going to use Sea Dragon set because:
- Cheaper! Oh yeah that's the most important here. Not gonna spend tons of gold/money to the set that is old and gonna be removed soon.
- Totem set with suffix II gives me a decent dmg output. Addition, I have 420 Final Damage from it.

*For FD:
420 (Totem) + 30(title) + 170(crest) = 620 Final dmg.
I believe it gives you almost 20% dmg boosted.

Prefix/Suffix
There are 2 options for armors crafting. I found it's interesting:

I/ Mainly DPS but still have a little regeneration:
- Helm + Body + Pants: Dire (Strength).

- Gloves + Shoes: Life (HP recovery).

With this I can have some more phys dmg for my dps. A little chance to get HP recovery. Which I'm using atm.

II/ Survival:
- Helm: Windswept (Agility and Crit resist).

- Body + Pants + Gloves + Shoes: Life (HP recovery).

For this one. The chance to get HP recovery is pretty high (more than 50%). Also I can have 50% more on crit resist if taken dmg.

Weapons:
- Main hand: Windswept (Crit resist debuff on target).

- Off hand: Destructive (With more raw dmg).

Lastly, for Heraldries (Crests) of mine are:
- Strength.
- Agility.
- Vitality.
- Physical damage.
- Critical.
- HP.
- Final damage.
- Magic defense.

I'm also using Heraldry expansion. Which added 3 more slots: (optional)

- Critical resist with Phys dmg on 3rd stat.
- Intellect with Phys or Crit. Give me some more MP - Magic defense.
- I have Defense atm. But I will change it soon to a cheaper one (Para/Stun resist) with 3rd stat. Either Phys or Crit.

Great guide corv! This is a really good build for getting insane damage out of the mercenary class, your epic gear also shows just how imba someone can get with optimised potentials and gears hahaha. I wanted to ask if you'll still be going towards the more FD focused route? Such as getting apoc necklace and earrings.

Its curious you have gigantic bomber as well, do you find yourself using it often?

Of course the Final dmg is the best in game but the price is so insane. Also it's hard to find a good one with main stats.

I just got an Apocalypse Necklace and Earrings with same Hidden as my lvl50 Windswept (Strength - Agility - HP).

1/ Using lvl50 Windswept Necklace - Earrings:
9254 dmg - 18601 crit - 620 FD (~20% boosted).

2/ Using Apocalypse Necklace - Earrings:
8828 dmg - 14513 crit - 742 FD (~30% boosted).

If the math for % dmg boosted is correct "Raw dmg x % boosted". I will have:

1/ 11104.8 dmg - 18601 crit.

2/ 11476.4 dmg - 14513 crit.

If it's corrected. Then with 122FD more from Apo. I get 371.6 more dmg. While crit dropping down to 14.5k.

Btw with the new Gauntlet I have. Crit can go up to 15869. It doesn't have suffix II but I will see later.

I use both Typhoon and Giganic Bomber on bosses. But for some different situation such as:

- Typhoon: too many mobs around me with AOE Lightning - Ice..... The boss has deadly skill that can pull my HP down too low or 1 hit KO if it's worse.

- Giganic Bomber: I use this skill the most. Not only it has has lower cd than Typhoon (120s) also has faster casting time. Decent dmg on 1v1 (Boss)

*Also I believe that if I use this rotation, I can deal more dmg:

Bone Crash - Circle Swing - Circle Bomb - Rolling Attack - Whirlwind - Giganic Bomber.

then Rising Slash + and the rest. Because I prefer to start the fight with Bone Crash, then spamming some highest dmg skills. From lowest cooldown to highest. This rotation has totally 13 secs to cast, which fits the duration of Bone Crash - to increase the maximum dmg.

Hehe, its always this balancing game to achieve the most optimised result which is the most fun. Shame its often ridiculously expensive to try out some of the more interesting things we want to.

If you want to risk it, i believe another 100 final damage is obtainable via the new dark (tattoo, wings, etc) custome set, but i've only seen a few people with all 3 pieces.

Right. But actually I think with 17 - 18k crit, we are already can deal decent dmg.

FD is good, but the cons are:

- Expensive, not to mention that we have to top it up for every lvl cap.

- Hard to find.

- Also you have to optimize you gear all the time such as: 17% crit on every rings, weapons to cap the crit. If you use low lvl heradries with FD in it, you will lose the main stats alots. Or even worse, we can only find some crap heraldries with FD on 3rd stat (Para, Stun, MP recovery...).

Hi Corva, may i ask if you are using any crit potential rings/weapons???

It's the new duo Ultimate skills. Once you get either Typhoon or Giganic Bomb, the 2nd Ulty will be active.

Hi i'm a merc/going to be barb player from Dn SEA, got some questions.
I have a decent stats, 1.8-2.4k att with 6k crit.
Still using 3 Elf and 2 allegro armor with 32B main n sub weapon with att,str,crit 17% pot.
lvl 40 cap is coming next week, and need some advices.
There are 3 types of manti set in DnArmory.net, normal manti set, dawn n twilight(mag).
if i get the normal manti, i will still be able to put the normal prefix like bear, des, wind? or only dawn?
Still go for wind accesories? by sacrificing main stats of str, and going for agi, will lose some dmg. and even with high crit, with low base dmg doesn't do well in dps.
Im not that heavily funded, what should i aim for at lvl 40?

Honesty your current stats are good for lvl 32, enough to deal decent dmg in lvl40 dungeons/nests. So don't need to worry and wait for lvl40 set.

I just asked my friend about the Manticore set. Dawn n Twilight n Aurora were the old sets which can no longer obtain. The new one is Normal Manticore atm. Same as Apocalypse set. And yes you can get the same prefix.

I prefer to go to the Survival Prefix/Suffix at 40. Because you will have Sea Dragon nest soon enough after 40. It's really difficult to clear at that time.

I think Crit doesn't matter much on Sea Dragon since he has ~14k Crit resist already (too high at lvl40 cap). So if I was lvl40, I would get :

- Full Manticore set instead of Apocalypse set.

- 2 Destructive for more raw damage.

- 2 Winds Necklace - Earrings.

Don't need to rush, things will get cheaper later. That will help you to enjoy the game more.

Updated skill trees for lvl 40 cap. Sea Dragon nest preferable build. Skill crests.

WEAPON: Both DESTRUCTIVE
NECK/EAR/RING: All WIND

First of, I want to know if you are planning to max crit or not (for lvl40 you will need 11k - 12k crit).

1/ You want to max crit first:

- Try get at least 1 hidden potential on your weapons or rings with 17% crit. Ignore this one if it's too hard to get.

- Full Windswept on your armors + Windswept on your Axe/Hammer. But Axe gives you more crit than Hammer.

IF you still can't get 11k crit. Try to use 1 or 2 Wind Necklace/Earrings and see how is your crit. If it doesn't give you much crit to reach at least 11k, then use 1 - 2 Fatal rings.

You can also optimize your crit by having some Heraldries / Crests with crit on the 3rd stat.

2/ You want to maximum raw dmg instead of crit. Then use your plan 1.

If I was you, I will craft the whole Manticore set first, HOLD the suffix crafting to see how much crit I have with the un-crafted gear. Then choose the accessories wisely to get the crit cap.

But I'm sure Windswept on Axe is the best, not only giving you more crit but also gives you the crit resist debuff on boss/target.

I would like to know that, should i go for gigantic bomber or cyclone axe for better bossing?
Since there is no duo ultimate patch for DNSea yet, i would like you to advice me on this.
