Cata Arms Warrior PVE/PVP Guide[Talent Builds Within]

Jan 6, 2011 11:25 pm
Cataclysm content is hard and your gear went from epic to crap. But the stat priorities are always like that.Get 8% Hit. After that, Strength > Crit > Mastery = Expertise > Haste.

Some variation of 31/7/3 may be the best Arms spec for PVE.

And the rotation : maintain Rend, prioritize Colossus Smash > Mortal Strike > Overpower. Heroic Strike as rage allows, and only Slam if you have an extreme excess of rage.
Keep prioritizing Colossus Smash and use Mortal Strike to take advantage of the Lambs to the Slaughter talent, but otherwise spam Execute. If you still have excess rage, burn it on Heroic Strike.
When you're rage starved, when you need to burst, or when your procs align.
Use Inner Rage to boost Overpower and possibly Rend if you're above 75 Rage, but you'll want to cancel the effect immediately afterward or face rage starvation.

And here is Arms spec for PVP 32/6/3.

Use Piercing Howl instead of Hamstring, this becomes very usefull with Drums of War cause Piercing Howl now cost 0 rage.As now Warrior is more tought in 4.0.3 Blood Craze now is better in long term pvp.

As standard dps, he/she may be only rocking about 11k, but the crits bump it up every once in awhile.

I disagree, the talent build for the PvE is wrongly built. For the PvE talent build you don't need to go as Arms, because Arms is mainly for PvP. Fury is better suited for PvE and do more damage, but also require more hit rating.
If you want to do raids as Fury build you will need 16%+ hit rating.

The PvP spec is also is wrongly built. You don't need Sweeping Strikes or Drums of War in PvP. The Sweeping Strikes won't help you in PvP so I'll advise you not to use them or to add any talent point in those talents.

The PvP rotation is variable, so I can't tell you how to keep your rotation because for X class you will need to use Y spell in start, middle or in the end of the duel, arena and battleground.
However you can follow this rotation.
Charge→Rend→Hamstring→Mortal Strike→Heroic Strike→Colossus Smash→Bladestorm and there are many more varieties to use in PvP while on the PvE side is different. This just an example.
One thing to keep in mind when you are doing PvP, always use Rend and then Hamstring, if you can't catch the target use Piercing Howl and make sure to use your interrupting abilities, such as Pamel or Shield Bash, but make sure you use them only when a player is casting. Timing your Spell Reflect is also important.

For PvE rotation I'll post up soon. Here is the PvE Fury talent build.

Or you can add two talent points into tactical mastery.

hamstring is great against rogues however piercing howl on higher armor opponents.  one will cancel out the other so you can have both up at same time.

I have to disagree with noldihg out. I think so much happens the first few months of the game that a late adopter will never get to experience.Just for an example. If you waited a few months to play Warhammer Online instead of at release you will find yourself doing pq's by yourself, doing mostly pve instead of rvr because everyone is already past that stage.Of course you have to deal with all the initial growing pains, but going to a game later on has no real advantages that I can see.

PvE.. well, lvnelieg is indeed a drag and various quests plus floating rates were the things for it back then. Also, considering the possible level cap raising, PvE will then be about the drops(MVP's in particular). I'm a go for trying out whatever in the opening.

When Age of Conan first came out, gear was almost cetlpomely useless. It meant PvPers had to have total twitch reflexes to stay alive. There will always be class imbalances, which made it occasionally a pain. But since gear makes such a huge difference, you can never really tell if it is pure skills or if its just total gear domination. I would like to see what would happen personally if gear was only pretty shinies and had nothing to do with giving an edge. But then you look at armor mitigation etc and the problem again arises how to balance a fight. Armor would have to have little impact save for shields being able to parry. With the current way of pvp fighting ie tab tgt and blast cool downs, there is little skill involved. If there were blocking moves and parries along with the cool downs, that would be wicked. The game design for WoW isnt meant for such activity though as it becomes a cool down race and not one of real skill per se. The game mechanics would need changing. If AoC wasnt such a big epic fail start and if they hadnt gone over to gearcentric combat, I would say AoC was the best venue for skill based twitch mechanics and movement. The idea was very sound, the execution of the game though was epic fail.
