If you get a novelty, stat booster, or other special item, be sure to see if it is worth money (provided it's not bound). For example, adventurer's potions and item shop potions are worth a good deal.

When merchanting, the most obvious way to make money is to buy low, sell high. However, relying on the exploitation of noobs is neither an ethical way to make money nor a particularly steady source of income, as not everyone can be relied upon to sell at noob prices.
A better way to sell high is to convert what you bought into a more useful form. For example, if someone needs some item A to make item B, you could make item B yourself and sell at a profitable price or simply split item A into smaller pieces. The reason why splitting stacks sells is because people don’t always need the WHOLE stack. They don’t want to have to buy all of it if they only need a little, and sometimes they don’t even have the money to get a full stack. That is why cheaper, smaller stacks sell.

These are the most straightforward ways to make money. So far it is going well, I have nearly 2k gold at level 29.

Well what I did was killed a bunch of monsters for quests and I ended up being able to afford most the good gears I needed
